Michael Notar
Owner & Principal Photographer.

Born in California, but growing up in Coeur d'alene, Idaho, Michael's early years were spent photographing local wildlife native to the area.

He attended the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, and earned a BA in Professional Still Advertising Photography.

There, he acquired extensive experience in lighting, color balance, digital capture and image enhancement, and color printing. He has specialized knowledge in the fields of high-speed stop-action photography, from water splashes to live projectiles. In his free time at Brooks, Michael studied the Zone System and advanced black and white printing, and focused on capturing the natural world through the ground glass of his 4x5 and 8x10 large format view cameras.

After, graduating from Brooks Institute, he founded Shutterworks Photography in 2005. Since then, Shutterworks has attracted the attention of the Inland Northwest's best companies, realtors, artists, architects and families.

Since 2008, Michael has enjoyed expanding into video, working on numerous commercial video projects and local independent short films.

In his free time, Michael enjoys refinishing Mole Richardson lights, electrical projects and the endless antics of Bender and Murphy, his miniature dachshunds.

Nick Burns
Associate Photographer.

Nick is a graduate from the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, with a BA in Professional Industrial Scientific Photography. He specializes in Advertising, Portraiture, and Fashion, with an emphasis of working in Black and White.

After several internships, Nick went on to join Pier 59 Studios West, in Santa Monica, California as a freelance photographer. There, he worked with clients including the Wilhelmina Agency, Next Model Management, and Elite. During this time, Nick photographed many celebrities, including Ryan Seacrest, Pink, Avril Lavine, Nadia Bjorn, Lauren Conrad, Paris Hilton, Barry Bonds, Keifer Sutherland, and xzibit.

Nick grew up in the Spokane Valley area and returned home in late 2008 to further his photography career.

Jennifer Crain
Associate Photographer.

Jennifer Crain specializes in portrait and wedding photography. Her passion is capturing those moments that we all want to remember forever.

Jennifer graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. After graduation, she apprenticed with several Los Angeles photographers shooting high-end weddings.

In her free time, she enjoys working with children, volleyball and the summer sun.
